J&J Settles New York State’s Opioid Claims, Avoids Trial; Settlement May Reach $263 Million

The state of New York and Johnson & Johnson (J&J), the parent company of Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., have agreed to settle the state’s claims that Janssen helped fuel the opioid epidemic through false and deceptive marketing practices.
Under the terms of the settlement, J&J agreed to pay the state up to $263 million to address opioid-related issues.
